Who we are

Benson is the Founder and Chief Pedagogist of AP. He previously co-founded iAcademy (SG and NZ), which is an integral component of a tripartite partnership between Nepalese, British and Singapore institutions responsible for the transformation and advancement of higher education in Nepal.

Benson is a Trustee on the Board of Cambridge Assessment Singapore, and a Member of the School Advisory Committee for Haig Girls School, which is one of only two government all-girls' primary schools in Singapore. He is also an Editor for the Journal of Information Technology Education, and serves on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Interactive Learning Research. He is a Reviewer for the International Journal of Educational Research and Computers & Education, and serves as a Member of IMDA's NICF Expert Panel.

Benson holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge (where his dissertation was nominated by the Faculty of Education for the BERA Doctoral Thesis. Award for best PhD thesis in Education), a MSc from the National University of Singapore (which he completed under a full NUS post-graduate research scholarship), and conjoint BSc/BCom degrees from the University of Auckland (where he won the Senior Prize in MSIS).

Junior is a Business Studies Expert at AP, and also General Partner of Expara Ventures, an early-stage, S.E.A. Regional Venture Capital Fund based in Singapore. Before joining Expara, he was a Director of Singapore’s leading private equity fund manager, Tembusu Partners. With more than 20 years’ experience in business, he has an extensive network that spans across industries ranging from high-tech start-ups to social enterprises, and SMEs to MNCs. He is also an early-stage investor in AP.

Junior is a qualified member of MENSA Singapore, and serves as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence with INSEAD's Asia Campus, and also as a Mentor for the NUSS-Residential Hall Mentorship Programme.

Junior graduated from the National University of Singapore's Business School with a BBA, and served 10 years as a Board Director with its Business School Alumni Association. He has since graduated with an Asia-Pacific Executive MBA from the same School.

Zong Yang is a Physics Expert at AP. He previously worked for the Singapore Science Centre's Physical Sciences Department, where he was responsible for the planning and teaching of physical science lessons to visiting students. Zong Yang was also involved in the Making and Tinkering Course in Singapore's Nanyang Technological University's (NTU) School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences as an advisor and educator, bringing 3D printing and affordable optics to the public.

Zong Yang graduated from NTU, School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, with a BSc (Hons) in Applied Physics, and is an alumni of Catholic Junior College (CJC) and Chung Cheng High School (Main).

Zong Yang is also an astronomy and astrophotography enthusiast, having previously served both NTU's and CJC's Astronomical Society as President. He is a member of Singastro, a group of local non-professional astronomers who regularly organises astronomy events in Singapore, and is notable for planning and executing large events such as Astronomy2017, which was held in Marina Bay Sand’s Art Science Museum.

Zhiyuan is a Physics Expert at AP, and also a Resident Storyteller with the National Library Board where she conducts storytelling sessions. Having served many years as a private tutor for Physics, Chemistry and Biology to IGCSE and “A” level students, she has deep insights into students’ learning difficulties and misconceptions.

Zhiyuan graduated from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, with a Bachelor of Science in Pure Physics. She is an alumni of Hwa Chong Junior College (where she was the Ambassador of the Singapore National Education Committee) and Nanyang Girls’ High School (where she was under the Student Science Mentorship programme).

Zhiyuan’s interest includes playing the cello, running, and travelling, and she has backpacked to places such as the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Russia, Japan, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Italy, Norway, Finland and many more. She's particularly proud that she has seen the Northern Lights!

Neil is Emeritus Professor of Education at the University of Cambridge, a Life Fellow of the Cambridge college Hughes Hall and Director of the study centre Oracy@Cambridge.

Neil’s influential work on the social brain, interthinking, and dialogue and the development of thinking and learning is well referenced by educational scholars throughout the world.
